Schoolchildren in Waalre in action for schoolchildren in Jasinga! (December 2005)

Primary school ‘De Meent’ from Waalre teaches their children that Christmas means more than just a Christmas tree full of decoration. Christmas is celebrated all over the world. It is celebrated in different ways dependent on religion, culture, ideas and habits. However, there is one thing in common: it’s a celebration of Peace. About thinking of all the people in the world who have a less fortunate life.

That’s the reason why De Meent chose Yayasan Jasinga Foundation as their charity goal to raise money for during the Christmas market. The schoolchildren worked for weeks and made beautiful Christmas decoration to sell on the market. The profit will be used for new toilets, water access and water-taps for the schoolbuilding in Jasinga

Els, Bep and Els have given a presentation about the situation in Jasinga to 300 students and the teachers of primary school ‘de Meent’ . The children were very interested and paid a lot of attention to the presentation. They were impressed by the huge differences, between their own school and the school in Jasinga, which were shown on photo’s during the presentation.

Thursday evening the 22nd of December, there was a nice and well organized Christmas market held at the school itself. It was very cozy with all the little decorated stalls, the lights, the warm Gluhwein, hot chocolate and the fresh handmade waffles. Despite the lousy weather, many people turned up to visit the market. The sale of all the creative handmade Christmas decoration went really well (see pictures).

Edith, Els and Els stood in the middle of the market with an information stall about Yayasan Jasinga Foundation. There was information and there were games. The school children of ‘De Meent’ helped with the games at he information stall and we got heaps of interested people asking about the Foundation.

The children of ‘De Meent’ have risen the amount of 1.521,71 euro!! Obviously, we are very happy with that and look back at two very successful events. We would like to thank the ‘charity commission’ of ‘De Meent’ especially. With their input and enthusiasm it was bound to be a big success!
