A very warm welcome the school kids and team of Sekolah Dasar 04
Totally overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of the students, we are taken for a tour around the new renovated building by director Wugu. It looks like an almost new building with the colours white, green and yellow.
The new garbage bins and brooms outside are immediately demonstrated by the students. It is great to see they are keeping the school and its environment tidy. The brand new timber benches and tables are neatly placed in rows in the spacious looking classrooms. The bright yellow curtains give the class rooms a nice fresh look.
The new toilet block is not just a 100% but certainly a 200% improvement compared with the old situation. The constant flow of water to the school is still a problem though because it is dependent on the water from the river. There hasn’t been a drop of rain for the last three months so the water level is very low. That’s why the toilets can not always be used.
We have discussed and made agreements with the builder and project manager about the water issue and maintenance of the buildings. We are waved goodbye with as much enthusiasm as we were welcomed by all the kids when we arrived.
