Final Benefit Concert 'Royal Harmony Deurne'
The public was deeply impressed by the benefit concert given by the ‘Royal Harmony Orchestra Deurne’ under direction of conductor Martien Maas. There was lots of variety in the repertoire which had even 3 different singers joining at different times. The public awarded the orchestra and singers with longstanding applauds. The concert was given in the beautiful chapel at Conference Hotel Willibrordhaeghe in Deurne. After the concert, there was an opportunity for the guests to enjoy a lovely lunch at the restaurant of the Hotel. The benefit concert raised € 860.
This event was the last of a series of fundraising events and activities raising money for the two above mentioned charities in developing countries. The events and activities included a books & record market, a wine sale, serving breakfasts, cleaning the streets and lots of school projects. The final proceeds of the past 1.5 years will be announced later on, but the first countings whisper an amount of around € 26.000. That would mean that both charities will receive € 13.000. SYJ has never received such an amount of money of a supporter before and is very honoured and incredibly happy with it. On behalf of the children in Jasinga we would like to thank all the Lions-members and all people involved with the fundraising events in Deurne for this incredible result.
