Main goals
The main goal of the Yayasan Jasinga Foundation is to enhance the well-being of all children in the village Jasinga (West-Java, Indonesia) and to increase their future opportunities.
This is done by means of education and the improvement of general living conditions of the people in the village.
- We work small scale;
- We work with clearly stated goals;
- We are well known with the local situation;
- We keep the overhead costs very low;
- We have direct short lines with Jasinga;
- We clarify and specify exactly where the donated and raised money goes.
Who?
Founders of the Foundation in the Netherlands are 4 women ranging from 33 to 62 years old. They work on a volunteer basis for the Foundation out of passion with lots of affinity, optimism and enthusiasm mixed with some Dutch down to earth attitude and the much needed reality checks. The Foundation was founded on the 13 th of February 2004 at the Chamber of Commerce. In the meantime the Foundation has become part of wider and bigger networks such as Foundation OIsterwijk Worldwide, an umbrella for smaller organisations like us.
During their visit, the locals warmly welcomed all four women; "We were very affected and overwhelmed by the hospitality and generosity of the people. Although the people don’t have anything for themselves, they insisted in sharing the little they had. We encountered a very sad situation. Many parents are hardly able to give their children any future perspectives because they simply have no money for education. There are only a few small schools that haven’t got anything or little to work with, no educational materials, notebooks, no wall posters, schoolbooks or other educational tools. Children with a mental and/or physical handicap have no opportunities at all. They are most of the time ignored, not being considered as a full member of the community. There are no facilities to support these children and their personal development and to give them any future perspective."
