Setting up special education for handicapped children
The foundation aims to set up structural facilities in Jasinga for children with a handicap. At the moment these children are ignored and hided for the outside world. They don’t go to school and don’t get just that little bit of attention they need so desperately. Gesi and Lelah are an example of these children which need urgent help and support. The foundation is helping them to find a good solution and a proper means of education. On the long term, the foundation hopes to do this for all the handicapped children in Jasinga by setting up local special education facilities.
Renovation Sekolah 4
We are still raising money for primary school Sekolah Dasar 04 in Jasinga. 172 Children and schoolteam are located in a school of which one part still find itself in a terrible and unsafe condition. One part of the school has yet been renovated by Stichting Yayasan Jasinga (SYJ). The doors and windows are broken in the old part of the school and the ceilings are literally coming down. It’s very unsafe for both children and staff. The new building has got new furniture, it is safe, solid and clean. There are toilets, electricity and water. We want to achieve the same result for the second building of the school. The school also still has no additional materials like music instruments, craft materials, sport materials, library books, extra educational materials, let alone computers.
The Foundation will make use of local materials provided by the local people as much as possible as to support the local economy.
The renovation / rebuilding will take place in three stages:
Stage 1:
- A building with 5 class rooms, a toiletblock, a teacher’s room and storage room.
- Providing electricity and water
- Furniture: tables, chairs and blackboards
Stage 2:
- A building with 3 classrooms, a toiletblock, a playground and safety ramparts
- Furniture: chairs, tables and blackboards
Stage 3:
- Facilitating the school with a range of materials like music instruments, computers, sports materials, additional educational material and library books
Stage 1 has been completed in 2006. We aim at the completion of Stage 2 in 2007 and Stage 3 in 2008. A lot of money is needed to realise our plans. Your donations and support are pivotal for us to be able to accomplish our goals these coming 2 years. Every penny raised by the activities organised by the Foundation goes directly towards the renovation of the school. As soon as we have raised enough money we can start with the second stage of the renovation/building. We keep you posted by our newsletters!
